Family: Irpicaceae

Irpicaceae - family of fungi within order Polyporales.

Family was described in 2003 by mycologists Vyacheslav Spirin and Ivan Zmitrovich. Type genus — Irpex. Subsequent multigene phylogenetic analyses of Polyporales confirmed use of this family. According to these studies, Irpicaceae is related taxon to Meruliaceae; these two families, together with Phanerochaetaceae, form the phlebioid clade.
