Fruiting bodies solitary, erect, with a short stipe that extends deeply into the substrate via a white, root-like base, and branches that are repeatedly dichotomously forked; bright, golden-yellow or yellow-orange, up to 10 cm tall. The hymenium covers the lateral surfaces of the basidiocarps.

In the United Kingdom, this species has the recommended name "yellow stagshorn," which roughly translates to "yellow deer antler." This name perfectly captures the overall appearance of the fungus.

Cтуденистая, желатинообразная, резинистая.
Weak, pleasant, mushroom-like.
Spore print yellowish in mass. Spores curved-ellipsoid to allantoid, with a distinct apex, thin-walled, unicellular or with a single septum.
Calocera viscosa grows on woody substrate (including wood buried in soil and heavily decomposed), singly or in small groups, preferring coniferous wood, especially spruce. It promotes the development of brown rot. Found almost universally.
C. viscosa resembles various species of fungi in the family Clavariaceae (the club fungi).
Polysaccharides isolated from the mycelial culture exhibit anticancer activity and inhibit the growth of Sarcoma-180 and Ehrlich carcinoma by 90%. The fungus contains 5-hydroxytryptophan, a precursor of serotonin and melatonin.
