The fruiting bodies are capitate, with a developed lamellar hymenophore, darkening in maturity to tobacco-brown or gray-brown; caps are often brightly colored, shiny. Veils are absent. Saprotrophs on soil, manure, rarely on wood. 54 species, presumably does not contain edible.
