Family: Amanitaceae

Amanitaceae  - family within order Agaricales (Gilled mushrooms).

The family in its current form was formed in 1940 around a large titular genus of Fly Agaric (Amanita), which differed significantly in macro and micro features, and was first identified by Christian Persona in 1794. Some mycologists, including the famous Soviet mycologist S. P. Wasser, raise the rank of the taxon to the order (Amanitales) with the transfer of the Pluteaceae family to this order, but this step has not become unequivocally recognized by the mycological community.
