Genus: Cystoderma
Cystoderma — genus of fungi of family Squamanitaceae.
Etymology
Cystoderma, Cystoderma. From κύστις, εως (kystis, eōs), bladder + δέρμα, τος (derma, tos), skin.
Type species
Cystoderma amianthinum (Scop.) Fayod, Annls Sci. Nat., Bot., sér. 7 9: 351 (1889)
A small genus of small mushrooms with a lepiotoid habitus, which was identified in 1889 by Victor Fayot based on a macroscopic feature: unlike other lepiotaceous and champignonaceous mushrooms, the gills of this genus are adnate or semi-adnate, but never completely free. Some species of cystoderma are edible, but they do not have significant nutritional value due to their small size and lack of popularity; most species of this genus are not known to be edible or inedible.
